Community & Operations Manager

    • Norfolk, Virginia

Job description

Assembly (www.assemblynfk.com) is an iconic building campus for creators and innovators in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia. With 50,000 square feet of office and coworking space, common areas, and event space, we’re purpose-built to host a community of like-minded professionals. Leading companies, aspiring startups, freelancers, and remote workers all share energy, inspiration, and resources. Thriving together, this empowered and connected community can go further, faster. And together, we create a beacon for the region’s future industries.

We are seeking a Community and Operations Manager to cultivate a welcoming and frictionless experience for our tenants, members, and guests. The selected candidate will have a passion for customer service and hospitality, and will demonstrate an ability to get things done — managing multiple concurrent work streams with great skill in organization, communication, and problem solving.

Responsibilities of the role are as follows:

Front Desk & Building Hospitality

  • Proactively greet, check in, and assist our tenants, members, and guests to ensure they have a great experience.

  • Maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment by setting up and closing down our common areas daily, overseeing our janitorial contractor, watering the plants weekly, and generally keeping the building clean, stocked, and well-organized.

  • Manage and respond to our Help Desk tickets and other ad hoc questions or support requests, escalating when necessary.

  • Identify and implement facility improvements to improve quality of life or reduce friction for our tenants, members, and guests.

General Operations

  • Manage facility and equipment repairs, both by overseeing the activities of our property management company and contracted vendors, and hands-on in the case of day-to-day fixes.

  • Perform administrative duties to keep our operations running efficiently, including filing documents and receipts, answering the phone, processing mail and packages, and ordering office supplies and equipment.

  • Manage data entry and data review of our memberships, event rentals, and programming, including managing invoices and payments.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting for our conference rooms and event space IT/AV equipment.

  • Support other Assembly team members in their functions as needed.

Community & Event Support

  • Support the planning, and execution of our programming and events, including vendor outreach and management as well as setup and breakdown of events.

  • Set up our IT/AV equipment for programming and events and make live adjustments if necessary.

  • Engage with our community of tenants, members, and community partners; help facilitate connections and assist in identifying new ways to add value for our community.

Marketing Coordination

  • Prepare marketing assets for events and other programming as directed, including drafting copy and adapting image files, following established templates.

  • Post approved marketing assets to our social media channels, website, and community platform.

  • Assemble and distribute our biweekly email newsletter and other targeted emails for special events and announcements; maintain the email newsletter subscriber list.

  • Manage our photography asset library, including organizing, tagging and selecting appropriate photos for marketing assets.

  • Assist the Community Director in drafting marketing plans, including social content calendars, newsletter outlines, and other marketing needs.

We’re a small but mighty team with a big vision, so we look for team members who are passionate about their work and driven to make things happen. Join us if you’re a high-performer who loves to collaborate to achieve great things.

This is a full-time position at our location in Downtown Norfolk, VA with a salary range of $48,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and skill.
